Behind the Scenes of a Renowned Artist-Owned Gallery: Can Artists Operate a Gallery? For 43 Years?

Wednesday, February 24, 2021 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Discover a dynamic artist-owned and artist-managed gallery that has been in business since 1976. Learn how Archway Gallery got its name and see how it holds a part of the thriving Houston art community. Currently, the gallery has 32 artists who represent an array of styles and media. In true Houston fashion, these artists come from around the globe and share their diverse backgrounds.

Archway Gallery finds it important to give back to our community. Besides a monthly opening reception, the gallery frequently hosts musical and dance performances, literary readings, and figure-drawing sessions. Generally free, these distinctive events are open to the public. To include area artists in a high-profile exhibition, Archway provides the rare opportunity of a juried exhibition to show their works. During this annual exhibition, Archway partners with and promotes a charity.
