A Conversation with One of the World’s Last Remaining Rare Map and Antique Print Sellers

Wednesday, October 25, 2023 @ 11:15 am - 1:00 pm

PROGRAM

You will be amazed to learn the history of a unique Houston gallery: The Antiquarium.

Be in the loop on the current state of the map trade. Be sure to prepare for some surprises, including this sampling of the fun stuff:

  • The only known image of the first oil well in Texas.
  • Historical documents by George Washington, David Crockett, Thomas Jefferson, and more.
  • The $25,000 garage find that went from the dumpster, to the garage, to the curb, to The Antiquarium.
  • The story of framing the most important map in American political history

You’ll come away delighted with the insights and new knowledge shared about this unusual specialty gallery

SPEAKER

Ed Grusnis graduated with a degree in finance from Grand Valley State University and a Masters in Human Resources from Michigan State University. He joined PepsiCo in 1999 as a Human Resources generalist, and rose to become a Vice President (HR), with roles spanning manufacturing, distribution, sales, and finally a global role supporting the IT function.

After a wonderful career with PepsiCo, Ed chose to pursue his lifelong passions; history, the decorative arts, and “all things made by hand.”

Leveraging an exquisite antique print and fine map gallery, The Antiquarium in Houston, Ed and his team are passionate about helping ladies and gentlemen build meaningful collections and decorate with taste and style while preserving important cultural material and family history.

Ed also currently co-owns RJ Raven, a custom architectural door and window company in Grand Rapids Michigan, along with his brother and business partner Matthew. To see examples of the exquisite work their craftsmen produce, please visit RJRaven.com.

Ed lives in Houston and enjoys human-powered sporting activities such as mountain biking, hiking, snow skiing, and scuba diving.  He and his wife Marianne have two adult children, Ian and Graham.  Both have chosen to join the family business and work full time for The Antiquarium.
