SUMMARY:When Was the Last Time You Updated Your Will? Or Should You?
DESCRIPTION:PROGRAM \nBoard-certified in Estate Planning and Probate\, a long-time Houston attorney will answer your questions. Should you update your will? In many cases the answer is yes\, says Houston probate and estate-planning attorney Sally Andrews. “Life changes\,” says Sally\, “and you will want your will to accurately reflect your wishes.” The birth or adoption of a child or grandchild is an example. Others include a marriage or remarriage\, or a change in assets or estates. \nSPEAKER \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nSally Andrews has been Board-Certified in Estate Planning and Probate since 1992\, and has been recertified every five years (as recently as 2023) by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. \nSally is a member of all Texas and Houston attorney organizations dealing with Wills\, Probate\, Guardianship. She also focuses on the tax and litigation related to those organizations. She has been board-certified by the Texas State Bar in Estate and Probate since 1992\, and has recertified every five years\, most recently in 2022. \nThe UT School of Public Health hired her from Duke University on a three-year project. Next\, she attended UT Law School in Austin\, and later worked in firms in Houston. Sally second -chaired the first foreign corrupt practices lawsuit. She tried to leave the law practice because of the hours and stress. That did not work out so she moved from litigation into estate and probate and that solved the problem. This gave her the opportunity to tap her background and her master’s degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina. \nShe has one son who has three children\, and one of those is the first grandchild. None of Sally’s family went into law. However\, she did write her son and daughter-in-law’s Will\, and the most important (under recent law) Durable Power of Attorney\, plus a combination document for all medical decisions.\n\n\n\n
