Dr. Schmidt will discuss how Houston compares with other venture capital markets\, focusing on clean energy and climate startups\, and the institutional infrastructure available to help launch companies with great ideas. She is also founder of a stealth AI startup. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				About The Speaker\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Dr. Stephanie Schmidt earned a BS in Bioengineering at Rice University\, then got her MS and PhD in Bioengineering at Stanford. She is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at Rice. She spent several years as a Research Fellow at both universities. \nAt MD Anderson Cancer Center\, she worked her way up from Research Investigator to Research Scientist in computational biology\, then spent nearly 4 years as Institute Group Leader over Genomic Medicine. \nThis year she founded a stealth AI startup and is now a Venture Fellow at Energy Transition Ventures. Stephanie leads at the intersection of AI\, data science\, and business strategy\, and is passionate about building innovation ecosystems.
